The Rosette Nebula (NGC2237) is a very large circular emission nebula in the constellation Monoceros that gets its name from its resemblance to a rose. It’s so large that it covers an area of the sky about five times that of a full moon! Like many emission nebulas, the Rosette Nebula is closely associated with a star cluster whose intense radiation lights up the nebula and intense winds carved out the hollow region in the center. Represented in SHO Hubble palette with natural-color (RGB) stars.
