The Tarantula Nebula (NGC2070) in the constellation Dorado at about 160,000 light years away. In fact, this nebula isn’t even in our galaxy (Milky Way) but belongs to a nearby galaxy called the Large Magellanic Cloud! In spite of that, it’s actually one of the largest and brightest emission nebulas in the night sky. If it were located as close as the famous Orion nebula (~1400 light years away) then it would cast shadows on the Earth! Represented in SHO Hubble palette with natural color (RGB) stars.
